Expanded Medical Advisory Board Includes Dr. William Dobyns, MD and Dr. Ghayda Mirzaa, MD

We are pleased to announce the addition of two new medical doctors and researchers to our medical advisory board: Dr. William Dobyns, MD and Dr. Ghayda Mirzaa, MD.

Dr. Dobyns is a geneticist at Seattle Children's Hospital and a researcher at the Center for Integrative Brain Research. He has made major contributions to the field of human genetics, particularly the nature and genetic causes of developmental disorders.  Dr. Dobyns leads a team of researchers with the largest database of M-CM affected individuals in the world and is actively searching for the genetic cause of M-CM.

Dr. Mirzaa completed her clinical genetics training at the University of Chicago in 2011, and is currently training in molecular genetics at the clinical molecular laboratory of the University of Chicago, a laboratory with a focus on the genetics of rare brain disorders.  During her clinical genetics training, Dr. Mirzaa has dedicated her time to studying patients with M-CM, collecting and analyzing clinical and brain aging data on more than 50 children and reviewing their features.  She is actively involved in Dr. Dobyns' M-CM research in the hopes of increasing insight into the nature, spectrum and genetic basis of M-CM.

We are excited about the work that Dr. Dobyns and Dr. Mirzaa are engaged in and look forward to collaborating with them.
